Life Lessons from an Elementary School Gym

Waiting to pick up my Third Grade son from basketball, I was struck by the sign on the gym wall.

My son Ben passing the ball.

RESOLVE CONFLICT
Compromise
1.  To settle differences, each side makes concessions, yields, waives, concedes.
2.  To negotiate, forgo, renounce, bend, give and take; to come to a consensus.
3.  To agree…  Everyone wins!
If only more adults looked up from their preconceived notions, looked up from their world view, looked up from their unbending stances and stopped to consider the sign.
So much more could get done, so many more problems could be solved, so much more understanding could take place.
Compromise.  It might hurt a little, but in this case, it’s a good thing.
