Life is simple. Love God, neighbor, baseball, and cookies.

Warming Footprints

Taking the recycling bin to the curb, I noticed something in the snow. The recent footprints of my boys, as they returned home from school. I smiled. My children would be inside. Soon the world would be right. I would be surrounded by my kids.

For once, the snow was welcome. It had marked the return of ones that I love.

“Kit Kat Cookies” – Cookie of the Day (11/12/19)

KIT KAT COOKIES

“Got some leftover Halloween candy? Well, let’s put some of those Kit Kat bars to good use. A little chopping, plus some cookie dough, and you’ll have a freshly baked treat in no time. Hey, November… Boo!”

3/4 cup Butter

1/4 cup Sugar

3/4 cup Brown Sugar

1 Egg

2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract

2 cups Flour

1 teaspoon Baking Soda

2 teaspoons Cornstarch

1/2 teaspoon Salt

1 1/2 cups Chopped Kit Kat bars

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix together the butter, sugar, and brown sugar.

Mix in the egg and vanilla extract.

Mix in the flour, baking soda, cornstarch, and salt.

Stir in the chopped Kit Kat bars.

Place Tablespoon sized balls of dough onto parchment paper lined baking sheets.

Love Donkey Sighting

Every now and then it happens. Seemingly only twelve people in the entire grocery store and we continually get in each other’s way. Blocked aisles. Slow moving carts. Uncomfortably close.

Well, today I overheard a conversational snippet from one of the families that were way too close in the “Chips Aisle.”

Mother speaking to her wandering child, “Come along, little love donkey.”

Now, I made sure to Google the term “love donkey,” before drafting this post. The only thing that I could find was an unlikely news story about a donkey falling in love with an emu (honest), so we’re all good.

Any who, that mom’s nickname made me smile and for a moment, just a moment, put me at peace, while she blocked my path to the Cheez-Its.

Dim Bulb

Hey, this is a friendly Public Service Announcement from Minnesota Dave, where any day now it feels like we will be under four feet of snow (for the next six months) and are experiencing the heavy psychological burden to get everything possible accomplished outside before the first four feet of snow arrives (that’s right, I said “first” four feet of snow, because it is never ever the last four feet of snow). So any who, here is your PSA. Enjoy!

“Remember, always test your Christmas lights before spending the next two hours hanging them in the cold. Just saying, it would suck if they had mysteriously stopped working, while sitting idly in the garage for the last ten months. I mean, trust me, you would be really sad if you had gone to all of that work and it ends in failure. Your spirit would be all sorts of broken. At least that’s what I have heard. From a friend. Named Dave. That is all. Bah humbug.”
